Who we are:

Belva imports, distributes and retails pew accessories and shooting gear. We also offer unique training programmes tailored to your needs.

The TL;DR version:

The company began as a passion project in the winter of 2021. Lockdowns were over but social distancing and face masks were still a thing. Working from home became a norm and work-life-balance was no longer a luxury for ordinary corporate slaves. Since social life was postponed until further notice, the idea of side-hustling seemed like a good use of time.

A complete novice of firearms at the time and a big Beretta fan, the founder envisioned a website that offered spares and aftermarket upgrades for Beretta pistols, something that was desperately lacking in the market. Another passion of his was (and still is) competitive shooting. There were stores in SA that offered competition gear, but few provided personalised services and sound advice. Information wasn’t available in the public domain and newbies relied heavily on experienced shooters for guidance. If you were shy or preferred to do your own research, you were out of luck.

Determined to change that, Belva was born in a 12m² study of a suburban home in Sandton soon after.

Today, we are a leading training provider and shooting accessories importer that strives to make a difference. We provide practical shooting training programmes as well as high quality shooting gear and accessories to help self-defenders and sport shooters take their skills to the next level.

“Are you guys legit?”

Traditional brick and mortar shopfronts have their place in the market, but online stores offer several other benefits, such as efficiency, convenience, streamlined service and delivery, more payment options, and a shopping platform that never closes.

Let’s face it, time is the most valuable asset. You have better things to do than being stuck in traffic or put on hold on the phone, when all you’re trying to do is to get an extra mag.

We have designed our website to be intuitive to navigate, simple to find what you want, and easy to put it in the cart and have it shipped the next business day. We also understand that times are tough, so our Payjustnow installment option is there to offer some relief, allowing you to Pew Now, Pay Later.

As of October 2024, we have delivered 1,900+ online orders and received over 150 Google Five Star Reviews. We work with a number of gunshops, dealers and independent gunsmiths in Gauteng, KZN and Western Cape. We are also a registered seller on both Takealot and Amazon South Africa, with a diverse range of products listed on the marketplace platforms.

Hope this provides some assurance that we are not a fly-by-night company. Strong relationships are in place between Belva and all its suppliers and we generally deal with companies with good reputation and business ethics. Some of the prominent figures in the shooting community we collaborate with includes Grey Man Operations, Bravo Tactical Africa, and many top IPSC shooters the country has to offer.

Whatever your purchase might be, you are interacting with humans on the other end who understand shooting gear and will try to answer all your questions in a professional manner.

“So, uh, do you keep stock?”

Most of what we sell are shipped directly from our own inventory, however, products such as custom holsters, apparel and target stands are made to order, and some accessories are kept at our suppliers’ warehouses. If an item is available on backorder, estimated production/ sourcing lead times will be mentioned. If you are unsure, you are more than welcome to first give us a call or drop us an email to confirm.

If an item shows “In Stock”, it means that it is in stock with Belva. As a principle, we will not take your money unless we can deliver, but mistakes can sometimes happen.

On the rare occasion where our online inventory levels are out of sync with actual stock quantities, and we cannot fulfill the order, you will be offered a choice between a full refund or a store credit to purchase another item.

If you prefer to view a product before you purchase, or collect your order from the showroom, please make an appointment at least a day in advance. Most of the time I’m a one-man band, juggling between two businesses. It’s unfortunately difficult to have an open door policy due to limited capacity.

“What does Belva mean?”

Belva is Italian and Latin for Beast.

“Beast Mode”, in our own definition, refers to the absolute confidence that one displays when performing a difficult task in order to succeed, with extreme accuracy, power, speed and determination.

To unleash one’s full potential and consistently deliver results on demand, physical and mental programming are equally important. That is why our company motto is “Unlock Your Beast Mode”.

The company’s founder, Peter Chang, is an Advanced Level Instructor registered with PFTC, prominent IPSC Competitive Shooter and one of the members of the Beretta PRO Team South Africa.

We aspire to share our passion for shooting and bring like-minded individuals together to elevate the skills level collectively.

We believe in making friends, not contacts. We believe in helping others before helping yourself. We believe that training is far more important than gear, but the right gear will make training more productive and fun.

We are stronger together as a community. Our long-term vision is to create a platform for competent, sane, moral and law-abiding gunowners to interact and motivate one another, put politics aside, and contribute towards the fight against disarming lawful citizens in South Africa.
